Foundry Hill Creme is a blended stoneware clay (although some consider it a ball clay). This differentiation comes from the slightly lower alumina content (near 20%), compared to the higher alumina content (near 28%) in more common ball clays (like OM-4).
Stoneware is a general name for plastic, refractory, secondary clays which are not as fine-grained as ball clays or as deep-seated as fireclays. - p. 274, Illustrated Dictionary of Practical Pottery, 3rd Ed. by Robert Fournier
