These brushes are all handmade from bamboo and deertail which is a soft, pliable hair, slightly wavy in texture. It produces a brush tip that has a lot of ‘air’, i.e., it will hold a great deal of material. This makes it great for potters (brushes made for watercolor or calligraphy tend to run dry too quickly when used with slips and glazes). The soft texture of the hair does cause the brush to be a bit floppy. While this takes some getting used to, I think you’ll find it works to your advantage since the brush will follow the compound curves of a pot more easily.
